5 sessions from Mon 28 Jul 2025 [Show]
Join us at Wild Trumpets for a week of hands-on sculpture and construction using clay, wire, cardboard, fabric, found materials, and improvisation. Children will create individual and group works, building bold forms from the ground up.
We’ll take inspiration from artists who blur the line between object and performance, mess and monument, using everyday and traditional materials to build new worlds.
• Franz West – absurd, textural, papier-mâché forms
• Marvin Gaye Chetwynd – character-driven props and monsters
• Simone Leigh – large, grounded, clay-based forms that speak through presence
Activities will include:
• Clay sculpting and experimental moulds
• Working with plaster and casting techniques
• Cardboard and wire structures
• Soft sculpture using textiles
• Group installations and sculpture trails
• Assemblage using recycled materials
Expect freedom and plenty of room to explore how sculpture can take up space, question, or fall apart!
