Join artist Pei-Chi Lee for an intimate afternoon exploring the meaning of 'home' through creativity, storytelling, and hands-on concrete casting. Inspired by Pei-Chi's current exhibition work Big Dipper, this workshop invites you to transform personal memories and meaningful symbols into a unique concrete tile you'll take home.
What You'll Do
Part 1: Explore & Imagine We'll begin with gentle conversation prompts about what 'home' means to you - your favourite corners, secret spots, the shapes, colours, and objects that make a house feel like home. You'll identify symbols and images from the exhibition tiles to inspire your own design, writing down keywords and sketching ideas.
Part 2: Create Your Tile Learn the complete process of concrete tile casting in a safe, supportive environment:
Draw your home-inspired shapes on wax cardboard
Cut out your designs and arrange them in a silicon mould
Mix and colour quick-dry concrete (with guidance from Pei-Chi)
Pour and cast your unique tile
After a break while the concrete sets, we'll demould the tiles together and share our creations before you take yours home.
